Job Training

Our Job Training program will be operated in conjunction with Westside Regional Center, which serves 12,500 children and adults with disabilities. WRC’s mission is "to empower this population, and its families, to access services that help create a quality of life comparable to persons without disabilities.” This is an incredibly tall order and one that Westside Regional Center achieves every day.

By age twenty-two, all young adults with special needs must graduate and leave public school. What comes next? Still living with their families but very much needing to socialize and to feel productive, these men and women struggle to find purpose in their lives.

“Born thirty-five years ago with a diagnosis of Down syndrome and a heart defect, my son has grown into an exceptional young man with a desire to navigate, independently, a world that was not built for him. Pepper Tree Farm will enrich his life in ways that his family can’t. He is eager to begin!” – Elizabeth Spencer

Pepper Tree Farm will teach a variety of skills that, hopefully, will lead to standard employment or “supported” employment opportunities through Westside Regional Center. Working with horses and other animals; tending to gardens, plants and trees; clearing trails; maintaining a large facility and doing office work offer challenges and satisfaction to these young people wishing to be part of the workforce.
